Sarawak Energy Builds New RC Bridge At Long Wat
Date : 26 August 2014 Source : Borneo Post Online
BELAGA: Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) is rebuilding the timber crossing at Long Wat which collapsed last Friday due to soil erosion following heavy rain over the past couple of weeks.

Materials ready for construction of the new RC bridge.
SEB senior manager (corporate social responsibility) Jiwari Abdullah said: “After receiving news of the incident, we immediately despatched our people to the site to assess the extent of the damage.
“The group then made arrangements for a RC (reinforced concrete) culvert bridge to be constructed immediately. The materials and machinery are already on site and construction will start as soon as weather permits. Subject to this, the work could be completed in a few days.
“In the meantime, we have built a temporary crossing to allow accessibility at least by foot and motorcycles.”
Jiwari said SEB understood that the incident had caused some of the villagers to feel concerned.
“We are constantly in communication with them on the course of action that SEB has undertaken to mitigate the problems that resulted from the incident.
“We are giving priority to ensuring that the daily activities of the people will not be further disrupted and the children able to resume school as soon as possible.”
Currently, there are close to 300 children attending SK Tegulang and SK Metalun, which house 18 teachers.
The facilities of these schools, which started early this year, would be enhanced with the building of a multipurpose hall for sports and recreational activities. Work on the hall would commence by yearend and should be finished by mid-2015.
