KUCHING: Nur Amirotil Jannah Juali, 25, from Kampung Kesagaan Pitas, Kota Merudu, Sabah fulfilled her dad’s dream to see all his children have at least a certificate in Islamic studies.

She successfully completed her course in Basic Islamic Studies at Institut Kemahiran Islam Malaysia Sarawak (Ikmas) in Telaga Air near here and was among the 20 studentswho received their certificates at the institute’s 13th graduation ceremony yesterday.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom officiated at the ceremony which was held at the institute.

She made her family happy because she did not only complete the basic Islamic course but won the Basic Islamic Studies Certification Award for the female category. The male category for the same award was won by Mohd Rezuan Zulkipli from Kampung Tabuan Melayu.

“I feel both proud and happy that I have finally made it albeit just the basic because being raised in a family with religious background it is my parents’ hope to see all their children have good knowledge of Islam,” she told the media after the graduation and prize presentation yesterday.

Jannah said: “I am the seventh among 12 siblings and my other brothers and sisters are all educated in Islamic studies and I am glad that I too have made it.”

At the graduation ceremony yesterday 91 students received their diplomas and 20 obtained certificates.
