Rosey: Govt Welcomes Input frrom youths

MIRI: The government welcomes youths to share their ideas and input on how to better address the development issues in their respective areas.
Assistant Minister of Early Childhood Education and Family Development Rosey Yunus said positive input from the youths would ensure that development projects carried out their areas would bring benefits to the people.
Speaking at the opening of a sepak takraw competition organised by Mamut
Youth Club at Rumah Baie Sukan in Bekenu recently, Rosey said such commitment was much needed in the context of rural development.
“We must take into account what have been voiced out by the youths such as problems they are facing and the suggestion on how to address the problems because they know better the actual needs of people in their areas.”
Thus, she urged the youths to participate in the government ‘sdevelopment agenda to further intensify the existing development projects.
For example, she said in this day of modern Information Communication Technology (ICT), the rural youths were demanding more reliable ICT infrastructures.
“Like youths in urban areas, those in the rural areas also want Internet centres be built in their villages for them to acquire information, updating knowledge on current issues and others,”she said.
Rosey, who is Bekenu assemblywomen, also advised the village safety and development committee (JKKK) to run more activities for the youths to steer them away from unhealthy activities.
Later at the same function, she presented Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant of RM2,000 to Mamut Youth Club.
The sepak takraw competition, the first organised by the club, drew in 22 teams.
Penghulu Sadi Mancha, Tuai Rumah Baie Suka, Councillor Sulaiman Ahmad and the club chairman Larry Albert
Aggu were also present at the function.
