LAWAS: Parents and teachers both play crucial roles in ensuring the success of pre-school education, which is the foundation for establishing a knowledgeable and competitive Malaysian society ready to shoulder the nation’s target of becoming a developed and industrialised economy by 2020.

Lawas district officer Hussaini Hakim said in view of this, the quality of pre-school education must be maintained and improved.
“Pre-school education is not merely about knowing the ABCs, or how to read, write and count. Quality pre-school education is equally important in preparing children to enter primary, then secondary and later on tertiary education. It also moulds the children into becoming well-rounded adults,” he said at the Sedidik Kindergarten Mini-Convocation 2014 here recently.
Among those present at the event were Sedidik Miri, Limbang and Lawas Zones’ operation manager Fatimah Sua’al and chairman of Sedidik Perdana Education Club, Jamadil Kasim.
The kindergarten is run by Sedidik Sdn Bhd, a non-profit entity tasked by Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) to provide human development services focusing on early childhood education to families in urban and rural areas across the state.
