KUCHING: More entities with expertise are encouraged to partner with iCube Innovation Sdn Bhd (iCube) in the effort to develop more young entrepreneurs for the state.

With such cooperation they can share expertise, knowledge and experience that contribute to the results of more than one entity, said Assistant Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datu Len Talif Saleh.

“iCube is an incubator innovation centre for young entrepreneurs, providing an incubator collaboration platform with strategic partners as well as providing a platform for young entrepreneurs to foster new ideas and innovations. We aspire to develop students into young entrepreneurs to drive innovation and create positive change in society,” he pointed out in his text of speech read by Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni yesterday.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between iCube and Sarawak SEGi College for more strategic partners from various industries involved in producing more young entrepreneurs in Sarawak.

It was signed by iCube lnnovation’s founder and chairman Dato Patrick Liew and SEGi College Sarawak principal Doreen D’orville, witnessed by Dr Hazland.

“To further raise awareness of entrepreneurship among youth, we have established the Aspiring Entrepreneurs Club or AEC at SEGi Sarawak College. They play an important role in contributing to the sustainable growth of the digital economy for Sarawak and the country,” said Len Talif.

Liew said they always welcome more partners from various industries to join their effort of creating more entrepreneurs among the youths in Sarawak.

“The MoU outlines their initiatives to work together and lays out the plan of collaborations. Along with these partners, iCube Innovation opens doors of collaboration opportunities and provides a platform for co-incubation for their partners,” he added.

He also said the partnership will extend to workshops, training, talks, seminars and similar events related to entrepreneurship grooming, e-commerce development, business coaching, leadership building and more to provide young aspiring entrepreneurs with expanded access to relevant information and potential opportunities.

“Such collaborations are very much encouraged as we cannot do it all on our own. Every entity has their specific expertise, the sharing of these expertise and knowledge and experience will be able to produce a much greater result as compared to a single entity labouring on their own,” Liew shared.

D’orville also said that the partnership with iCube innovation will provide SEGi College’s young aspiring entrepreneurs with access to information through workshops, training, talks, seminars, related events, e-commerce development, co-working space, business coaching, leadership building and many potential opportunities.

“Inspired by our own mentor Tan Sri Clement Hii, we aspire to develop our students to become young entrepreneurs today, to drive innovation, economic growth, and create positive changes in society.

“By dismantling monopolies, creating new demands, and adopting new technology, our young entrepreneurs can foster more competitive economies and can adapt rapidly to more globalised societies,” said D’orville.
