Date : 10 May 2013

KUCHING: All government agencies in Sarawak need to begin planning their proposed projects for the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP) for state-funded and rolling plans for federal funded-ones, upon completion of the state’s 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP) review exercise.

Sarawak State Secretary Tan Sri Mohamad Morshidi Abdul Ghani said, in view of the need to stimulate further the economic growth and development, the state cabinet had approved the increase in 10MP ceiling of state-funded programmes and projects from RM14 billion to RM18 billion to implement 1,017 projects.

“I would like to inform that the state’s 10MP mid-term review exercise had been completed and only high impact projects, especially in the context to stimulate economic growth and bring great benefit to the people, are being considered,” he said.

He said this to about 400 senior civil servants from the state and federal agencies in Sarawak at the Majlis Bersama Setiausaha Kerajaaan Negeri here today.

Also present were Sarawak Federal Secretary Datuk Md Yahya Basimin, state attorney-general Datuk Abdul Razak Tready and state financial secretary Datuk Seri Ahmad Termizi Sulaiman.

Mohamad Morshidi said a substantial part of the additional allocation of RM4 billion or 86.4 per cent was meant for investment, industrial development, roads, wharves, bridges and water supply.

However, he said, the project list still needed further fine-tuning and once it was completed, all agencies would be informed of their approved project list for immediate implementation and subsequent completion before the end of the plan period. – Bernama
