MIRI: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is glad to note that the Education Service Commission (SPP) has set up a think tank to evaluate the procedure to recruit new staff for the Education Service.
“I hope that through this think tank, SPP can identify a recruitment procedure which is comprehensive so that only credible and qualified candidates are recruited in the education service,” he said.
Muhyiddin, also Education Minister, was officiating at the 2015 Education Service Conference here on Wednesday night.
Among those present were Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu who represented Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, federal ministers, assistant ministers and Education Service Commission (SPP) chairman Datuk Dr Haili Bolhan.
On the conference, he hoped it would be used to find the best formula for the paradigm shift in the teaching profession.
At the function, he also launched SPP’s new vision and song.
Meanwhile, Adenan in a text read by Jabu thanked SPP for choosing Sarawak and Miri in particular as the venue of the conference, the first ever held outside Peninsular Malaysia.
“This shows that the federal government is committed to improving the quality of education in Sarawak and also increasing skilled manpower needed to enable Sarawak achieve its 2030 vision to become the richest state in Malaysia,” he said.
Jabu hailed the appointment of Dr Haili as the chairman of the commission as testimony of the federal government’s high regard for Sarawakians. Dr Haili is the first Sarawakian to be appointed to the post in 40 years.
