LIMBANG: Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin approved RM1 million for upgrading of Tamu Limbang during his walkabout there yesterday.

He hoped the project would be implemented soon.

Earlier he and his entourage were given a warm welcome when they arrived at the market dubbed ‘Badudun’ where he joined the crowd of 1,000 for breakfast.

He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu, Minister of Housing Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg, Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, Limbang MP Hasbi Habibolah and his Lawas counterpart Datuk Henry Sum Agong, assemblymen Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail (Bukit Kota) and Paulus Palu Gumbang (Batu Danau), and other dignitaries.

Local community leaders including representatives from BN component parties and NGOs turned up for the event.

Lending his ear to the voices of the hawkers and local community, Muhyiddin took time to purchase some freshwater prawns and local mussels simply known as ‘kupang’ by the local community.

Collected in waist-deep water, they are a popular local delicacy.
