GST: Govt Do Give Aid To Alleviate Financial Burden — MP
Date : 05 May 2015 Source : Borneo Post Online

Datuk Henry Sum Agong
LAWAS: Those feeling the pinch of the goods and services tax (GST) should remember the 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) and other forms of government aid for students, farmers and fishermen.
Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong said the government gave this aid despite economic uncertainties in the world, depressed world oil prices, and unrest in the Middle East.
Officiating at the ‘My Neighbours, My Family’ event organised by Neighbourhood Watch Committee (KRT) Tanjong Pagar in Sundar here on Saturday, he thus advised the people to watch out for those who played up these issues for political points.
“The state election is near, and I hope the people are matured enough to evaluate issues rationally and be well-informed to avoid being hoodwinked by undesirable quarters.”
On the 11th state polls, which must be called by June next year, Henry Sum called on the people to rally behind Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem to enable him (Adenan) to do more for the people.
He said the people should not be influenced by what was happening in the peninsula as the socio-political situation in the state was different.
Henry Sum said Adenan had introduced a number of initiatives that benefitted the state, such as the lowering of power tariffs, abolishing bridge tolls, fighting illegal logging, negotiating with the federal government for higher gas and oil royalty, and working on getting locals greater participation in the oil and gas industry.
