RM1.51 Mln To Improve Infrastructure In Bekenu

MIRI: The state government has approved RM1.51 million for road upgrading and bridge construction work in Bekenu constituency.

Assistant Minister of Early Childhood Education and Family Development Rosey Yunus said these projects would be implemented at Rh Ngayum Sungai Skrat Niah, Kampung Pintasan Tiris and  Rh Albon Tiris.

Rosey, who is also the assemblywoman for Bekenu, announced this during her working visit to the three villages yesterday.

Additionally, she announced a grant under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation totalling RM81,000 to various recipients, including  the Women’s Bureau and Village Development and Safety Committee (JKKK) of Rh Ngayum Sungai Skrat Niah,  Kampung Pintasan Tiris’ women’s bureau and JKKK, Kampung Masjid Tiris, Kampung Tunah/Lubuk Buinih as well as Rh Albom Tiris’ women’s bureau and JKKK.

She also said some RM320,000 had been granted for road upgrading purposes in Rh Ngayum.

Other allocations include RM300,000 for the road building projects of Kampung Pintasan Tiris, RM300,000 for bridges in Kampung Pintasan Tiris, road projects worth RM350,000 for Rh. Albon Tiris, RM200,000 for bridges in Kampung Jepayang/Rh Albon and RM40,000 for road projects leading to the cemetery of Rh Albon.

In her address, she praised chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem for approving the funds needed.

“The chief minister is very committed to bringing more development projects to rural areas, thus closing the gap between urban and rural areas,” she stated.

Apart from the strong emphasis on rural development, she pointed out that the chief minister had reduced electricity bills and was committed to the abolishment of illegal logging activities in the state.

She called for the rural folk to give their undivided support to the chief minister’s leadership in order to ensure the continuity of infrastructure development for rural areas.
