KUCHING: The Barisan Nasional (BN) government’s development plans require the full support and cooperation of the people to become a reality.

Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said this included the Darul Hana mega project for his constituency of Santubong.

“It needs the people’s support and cooperation to make things happen. Or, nothing will happen,” he said when breaking the fast with the less fortunate at Kampung Pulo Ulu on Wednesday.

He said the development plan, announced by the Prime Minister last April, would cover areas from Kampung Boyan to Demak Baru, including Kampung Pulo Ulu.

“It takes much time because the government needs to study and come out with an overall plan to fulfil people’s demands. I am confident that it will come true.

“You will see this place totally different in years, after the makeover. But, before we change this place, the people’s mindset has to be changed first,” he said.

He called on the people to continue supporting BN representatives to ensure more development for their constituency.

Meanwhile, he also urged parents not to neglect their children’s education.

“Whether they are normal kids or children with special needs or OKU, we should raise them the same way.
Education is important to them all because it is a factor of success in their future,” he said.

He called on the Bumiputera community to equip themselves with knowledge so that they would be more competitive.

“The younger generation will be our future leaders to replace us. They are not only preparing themselves to contribute to the state but also the nation,” he stressed.

He presented duit raya to 150 senior citizens, disabled, single mothers and orphans and also announced a RM15,000 grant for Surau Darul Islah.

Meanwhile, Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said he hoped the Darul Hana mega project, to be implemented under the 10th Malaysia Plan (10MP), would be carried out smoothly with the people’s support.

“I urge the involved representatives to send the right message to the people often so that they know about the present and future projects, especially at Kampung Seberang Hilir,” he said.
