KUCHING: Yayasan Sarawak has distributed RM4 million worth of cash vouchers to date in assisting local students to pursue their education, said Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.
“Education is the most precious asset as it would enable students to achieve success in their life. So I hope that students would grab this opportunity to study hard and contribute back to the state,” said Dr Sim.
Dr Sim was officiating at the presentation of cash vouchers at SMK Arang Road here yesterday.
“The most valuable gift that parents can give to their children is education and not something that is materialistic,” added Dr Sim, who also hoped that parents would utilise the cash vouchers to purchase school uniforms and shoes for their children.
During the ceremony, Yayasan Sarawak distributed cash vouchers to 157 students from 22 primary and secondary schools in Kuching. Dr Sim also announced a donation of RM3,000 to SMK Arang Road.
