KUCHING: Assistant Minister of Transportation Datuk Dr Jerip Susil made a visit to several villages in the Mambong constituency to assess the damage caused by the incessant rain that had been hitting the area for over a week.

The villages that he visited together with his special officer Robert Keron, state administrative officer Rangen Jamang and Penghulu Richard Daho were Kampung Bratan, Kampung Punau, Kampung Bunuk, Kampung Giam Lama, Kampung Nusaraya, Kampung Kiding and Kampung Sepit.

Dr Jerip, who is Mambong assemblyman, said among the damage caused were landslides near individual houses, which posed danger to the occupants, as well as landslips that covered roads leading to the villages.

Dr Jerip advised the village chiefs in his constituency to report to him any damage immediately so that prompt action could be taken. He had set up the ‘Padawan KMKK’ WhatsApp group to enable the village chiefs write detailed postings on the damage at their villages.
