Date : 16 September 2019 Source : The Borneo Post

KUCHING: More national and international events should be organised in Sarawak to engage the local youth, said Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
As this year is ‘Visit Sarawak Year 2019’ with the promotional tagline ‘Sarawak, More to Discover’, Abdul Rahman said Sarawak showcases its unique diverse culture, adventure, food and festival celebrations.
“Sarawakians of different races and religious backgrounds come to live and work (in Kuching) which proves Sarawak is a melting pot of various cultures, earning the country the first City of Unity award.”
Dr Abdul Rahman was representing Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg at the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians (TOYM) 2019 awards dinner held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching here on Saturday night.
Hosting events like JCI TOYM 2019 here would promote Sarawak to other parts of Malaysia and the world said Dr Abdul Rahman.
“I am very pleased to see the presence of many young active Malaysians who are full of inspiration towards building a better society and a better Malaysia. Thank you for selecting Kuching for hosting this auspicious event,” he said.
The winners of JCI TOYM 2019 are Clarence Leong, Lim Weng Marc, Dr Pang Cheng Heng, Kedaz Heng, Nurul-Huda Mohamed Afandi, Dr Soh Yih Harng, Yeap Huey Huey, Lee Kien Yi, Emelyne Carmen Ho and Chuah Yoen Young. JCI TOYM programme serves to recognise 10 individuals, Malaysians between the ages of 18 to 40, who exemplify the best attributes of the country’s young people.
