182,168 1Malaysia laptops distributed up to 3 Nov

UNDER the 1Malaysia Computer Programme, 64,120 units out of a total of 182,168 units allocated for Sarawak had been distributed to the secondary school students in the state up to 3 Nov this year.

Minister of Welfare, Women and Family Development Datuk Hajah Fatimah Abdullah said this in answer to a question from Jemoreng Assemblyman Abu Seman Jahwie who wanted to know the number of 1Malaysia Computer units distributed in the state.

“Up to 3 Nov this year, the number of 1Malaysia Computers distributed throughout the state are as follows: Kuching (17,465 units), Samarahan (4,692), Sri Aman (3,570), Betong (3,100), Sarikei (3,400), Sibu (7,100), Kapit (2,735), Mukah (4,246), Bintulu (6,122), Miri (9165) and Limbang (2,525),” informed Fatimah during the morning session yesterday.

She added that in order for an individual to be eligible for the free laptop computer, he or she must be a citizen of Malaysia with a monthly household income of less than RM3,000.

Successful recipients are required to subscribe to broadband service with a minimum package of RM25 per month from any telecommunication company in the country.

Fatimah also informed that based on parliamentary constituencies, the breakdown of recipients are as follows: Mas Gading (5,135), Santubong (6,000), Petra Jaya (7,400), Kuching City (43,800), Stamping (6,000), Kota Samarahan (6,000), Mambong (6,133), Serian (6,000), Batang Sadong (5,210), Batang Lupar (6,000), Sri Aman (5,600), Lubok Antu (4,400) Betong (7,000), Saratok (6,000), Tanjung Manis (4,000), Igan (4,000), Sarikei (4,600), Julau (8,390), Kanowit (5,000), Lanang (4,100), Sibu (5,200), Mukah (6,200), Selangau (6,000), Kapit (6,200), Hulu Rajang (4,500), Bintulu (9,200), Sibuti (4,300), Miri (9,800), Baram (7,600), Limbang (6,000) and Lawas (6,400).
