In the year 2009, the Licensing Division continued to carry out the following functions and
roles as shown below:
• To process the application for timber licenses/permits under the Forests Ordinance,
Cap 126;
• To process the application for sawmill licenses under the Forests Ordinance, Cap
126;
• To process the application for registration of licensee/PA holder/Contractor/Sub-
contractor and their renewal;
• To process the application for approval and renewal of licensee/PA
holder/Contractor/Sub-contractor;
• To ensure the timber workers are insured with the approved insurance panel;
• To carry out the inspection and monitoring the mill operation prior for renewal of
sawmill licenses;
• To develop the systems and application of GIS and database administration;
• To provide mapping services on updated forest cover, status of logging road, land
use;
• To update data and verify timber licenses area, PFE boundary, timber harvesting,
logging road, land use and TPAs;
• To develop web application, integrated licensing database, Log Tracking system,
royalty billing system and geographical information system; and
• To monitor the implementation of development projects under Licensing Division.
