Strategic Plan 2025 - 2030 | MEITD

                         Emergence of Future Skills

The demand for digital literacy, green technologies, and innovation-driven competencies is
rising, requiring a workforce skilled in artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, data analytics,
                         and sustainability-focused industries.

                         Lifelong Learning and Upskilling

Continuous learning is becoming essential as technological advancements redefine job
roles. Workers must engage in upskilling and reskilling programs to remain relevant in
                         dynamic labour markets.
                         Shift Towards a Knowledge-Based Economy

There is a growing emphasis on high-value industries such as biotechnology, renewable
energy, and smart manufacturing, driving the need for a highly skilled and adaptable
                         workforce.

                         Biotechnology and Sustainability Focus
Research is increasingly centred on biotechnology, green technologies, and sustainability-
driven solutions to address environmental challenges and drive economic diversification.

                         Collaborative Research Models
There is a growing shift toward cross-disciplinary and multi-sector partnerships involving
academia, industry, and government to enhance research impact and commercialization.

                         Commercialization of Research
Emphasis is placed on translating research into market-ready innovations, fostering
entrepreneurship, intellectual property (IP) generation, and technology-driven economic
                         growth.

                         Regional Autonomy in Education

Increased devolution of powers under Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) allows Sarawak
greater control over education policies, curriculum development, and institutional
governance, enabling tailored strategies to meet local needs.

                         Sustainability as a Core Agenda
Education and innovation policies are increasingly aligned with global sustainability
frameworks, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring long-term
                         environmental, economic, and social resilience.
