Application of a Storage Permit

A permit from the Superintendent for carbon storage is required under Rule 22 (1) of the Land (Carbon Storage) Rules, 2022, to use any land for the storage of scheduled gases.
  1. Latest Print Out of Company Search from Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM)
  2. Permit Holder’s Company Profile
  3. Audited Financial Statement for the Last Two (2) Financial Years and to be certified by Certified Accountant
  4. Plan of Potential Storage Sites with Coordinates of All Corners (KML/KMZ file only)
  5. Copy of Expired Licence (if applicable)
  6. Storage Development Plan
  7. Description of Measures to Prevent Any Significant Irregularities
  8. Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report
  9. Copy of Approved Decommissioning Plan (if applicable)
  10. Post-closure Plan
  11. Appointment Letter (applicable when to add in new Storage Operator)
Company can register for SarawakID and Sarawak Corp, and then access this service through the service catalogue.
Company ought to be registered under the Companies Act 2016 (Section 17) (Act 777) and must have a registered address in Malaysia.
  1. Application will only be processed if the information and documents provided are accurate and subject to the payment of the fee for application of permit.
  2. Applications that are incomplete or do not meet the required criteria will be rejected.
The fee for application of permit is RM50,000.00 and preparation & registration of issuance of permit is RM1,000.00. Licence fee will vary based on area approved. The method of payment is: -
  1. Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT);
  2. Internet Banking & Credit/Debit card (ePayNow);
  3. Company Prepayment; or
  4. Counter payment (Cheque only).
