KUCHING: The 1MCC-Astro Kem Bola programme will conduct training at Padang D Jalan Stadium, Petrajaya from 7am this weekend (Aug 16 and 17).

According to the publicity release yesterday, this year’s programme kicked off in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah with a two-day training selection at Kompleks Sukan Likas on Aug 9 and 10.

About 200 participants are registered to undergo training with professional coaches from 1MCC.

In addition to this, Astro hosted students from the Astro Kasih Hostel projects in SK Magandai, Kota Marudu and SK Malinsau, Ranau for students to show off their skill at the Kota Kinabalu Selection Camp last Sunday.

Interested boys and girls from Sarawak, aged 10 to 12, who are interested to participate are encouraged to register online at www.astrokasih.org/kembola to secure the spot.

Some 64 of the best participants from the selection camps will be selected for the Advanced Training Camp to be held in Kuala Lumpur.

During this stage, participants will undergo intensive football training, focusing on team work and positive values as well as 1MCC’s Education Through Football (ETF) programme.

A total of 32 boys and girls will be selected for the Overseas Training Programme where selected participants will have the opportunity to be exposed to academy level coaching and competitive play through a series of friendly overseas matches.

The 1MCC – Astro Kem Bola programme has been organised by Astro Kasih in collaboration with 1MCC Sports Sdn Bhd (1MCC) since 2012.

Through the programme, Astro continues to identify young talent and nurture them from the grassroots level through a series of training programmes as well as competitive-play experiences at international level.

After the Kuching stop, the programme will proceed to Ipoh, Perak on Sept 13 and 14 followed by Kuantan, Pahang (Sept 21 and 20), Seremban, Negeri Sembilan (Sept 28 and 29) before its final leg in Kuala Lumpur (Oct 10 t0 12).
