KUCHING: The Ministry of Local Government and Housing had a Joint Technical Consultative Committee (JTCC) meeting yesterday to discuss the standardisation of requirements and process to expedite building plan approval.

The meeting was chaired by Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian and was attended by the ministry’s permanent secretary Bakrie Zaini and representatives from Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia Sarawak Chapter (PAMSC), Association of Consulting Engineers Malaysia (ACEM), Fire and Rescue Department, Land and Survey Department, and several major local councils.

According to a press release, a few issues were resolved during the meeting.
Among others, the meeting discussed preparedness of each agency and practitioners on the implementation of e-submission of building

plans as well as standardisation of facilities for disabled people such as ramp, toilets, vertical access, stairs, parking space and signage at hospitals, clinics, restaurants and other public areas.
