Familiarization with activities relating to Ecological Research

Timber Samples Collection
Herbarium specimen collection of 556 samples comprising various species of plants
Data Collection for the Sarawak Canopy Biology Programme (SCBP) at Lambir
National Park, Miri.
Macrofungal surveying at various localities
Reconnaissance surveys at various research stations, Sabal Agroforestry Centre,
Reforestation Project at Sabal Forest Reserves, Bintangor tree plots at Matang
Wildlife Centre, and Shin Yang Ulu Baram Forest Plantation in Baram. The fields’
visits had enabled the staff to gain essential knowledge for future research.
3. Maintenance and Conservation
Maintenance of more than 250,000 herbarium specimens of plants
Maintenance of forest fungal herbarium comprising wet and dry specimens totaling
5,716 samples.
Conservation: Wild fruit germplasm collections from different localities in Sarawak
Collection of soil samples
4. Collaboration
Collaboration between the Entomologycal Research Unit with Faculty of Biological
and Environmental Sciences, Japan on Isopteran taxa (insects groups).
