Strategic Plan 2025 - 2030 | MEITD

The expansion of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) talent is a crucial
initiative under MEITD ’s education strategy to meet the growing demands of high-impact industries
and drive Sarawak ’s transition into a knowledge-based economy. This initiative focuses on enhancing
STEM education accessibility, strengthening industry-academic collaboration, and fostering student
interest and participation in STEM fields.

By improving STEM curricula, equipping schools with modern laboratories, and providing hands-on
learning experiences, MEITD ensures that students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and
technical skills essential for emerging fields such as biotechnology, artificial intelligence, renewable
                  energy, and digital transformation.

Special emphasis is placed on bridging the urban-rural divide by expanding STEM outreach
programs, teacher training, and scholarship opportunities, particularly for underrepresented groups,
including rural students and women in STEM fields. Through these efforts, Sarawak aims to cultivate
a future-ready workforce equipped to drive innovation, technological advancements, and economic
competitiveness at the state, national, and global levels.

To increase STEM participation and competency among students by enhancing access to quality
STEM education, fostering industry partnerships, and promoting inclusivity, ensuring that Sarawak
develops a skilled and future-ready workforce capable of driving scientific and technological
                  innovation.
