Music Transcends Barriers, Says Awang Tengah

LAWAS: Music transcends barriers and thus can unite mankind, and also a great potential as a career.

Stating this was Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, saying those people successful in music and arts are among those who are rich and famous.

“Music and arts are also capable of giving us success. If we are committed in all that we do, we will succeed.

“If we continue to be united like music that can unite the people for a common goal regardless of origins, be rest reassured we can always be united and work as a team and be a model to others,” he said at a Sarawak Symphony Orchestra concert jointly organised by Sarawak Arts Council, Lawas District Office and Lawas District Council at Dataran Lawas here on Friday evening.

Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang; representative of permanent secretary to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports, Norhayati Bidin; Limbang Resident Ahmad Denney Ahmad Fauzi; and Lawas and Limbang district officers Ladin Atok and Superi Awang Said respectively were also present.

Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of Industrial and Entrepreneur Development, added that the Sarawak government would continue to implement several major projects to provide opportunities for the people involved in the economic, education and skills sectors.

“These sectors require commitment for any success to come, just like in music and arts,” he said.

The two-hour concert, featuring high artistic performance that gave positive impact to the community, was the first one held here this year.
