Education
Education in Malaysia, and consequently Sarawak, is administered federally by the Malaysian Ministry of Education (MOE). However, the Sarawak Education Department is responsible for coordinating educational matters in Sarawak.
In Malaysia, the education system is divided into several stages: early childhood, primary, secondary, and tertiary education. Only primary education is compulsory in Malaysia. Education in government schools is provided free of charge to citizens.

Home Schooling

In certain limited circumstances eg. a chronic illness, a child might be granted the right to be home schooled. To apply for home schooling, an application can be submitted to Sarawak Education Department using the form provided. The form can be obtained from the Sarawak Education Department. If a parent is able to satisfy all the requirements and conditions for home schooling which are set out in the application form, then the child might be granted the right to be home schooled by the Minister of Education.
