General Harvesting Plan (GHP) Chart 3: Area Planted in 2012
In 2012, the Department had processed and approved seven (7) General Harvesting Plans
within the Forest Timber Licence in the State.
Secretariat for Mangrove Project in Sarawak
In 2012, a total of 12,500 saplings of Bakau Kurap (Rhizopora mucronata) species were
planted, covering an area of 20 hectares along the Tebatan banjir, Kuching Wetland National
Park (KWNP).
Four awareness programmes were carried out for the local community and other agencies in
2012, namely;
a. Awareness programme with villagers from Kampung Muara Tebas and Kampung
Pasir Putih at Pantai Muara Tebas on 29-7-2012;
b. Awareness programme with Petronas Wilayah Sarawak at Kuching Wetland National
Park on 13-10-2012;
c. Awareness programme with 15 officers from Republic Of Korea at Kuching Wetland 3. FOREST LICENSING
National Park on 15-8-2012; and
d. Awareness programme with Fuji Xerox Malaysia Sarawak Branch at Kampung Forest Timber Licences
Selabat Pasir Putih on 1-12-2012.
In the year 2012, a total of 109 new registrations and 653 renewals of registrations for forest
Forest Inventory timber licences were issued. Tables below show the number of new registrations and
renewals for the year 2012:
Two Forest Inventory activities were carried out in 2012, namely:

Forty officers from Forest Department, Sarawak, Forestry Corporation and SAG attended two
workshops on “Review on Forest Ordinance” held at Kemena Hotel, Bintulu on 16-17 April 2012 and Table 12: Renewal Registration of Forest Timber Licences

The establishment of planted forest is a long-term strategy towards providing alternative and 6 Pa And Logging Contractor 92
steady sources of wood material for the wood-based industries in Sarawak. The planted
forests will also help to relieve the harvesting pressure on the natural forests and at the same 7 Power Of Attorney 13
