FOREST REVENUE
Performance for the year 2012 was satisfactory. Forestry sector was still among the major and
important contributor to the overall State‟s revenue. It is the Department‟s responsibility to continue to
play an important role in ensuring that the procedures for collecting revenue are in accordance with
the provisions of existing legislation. Thus, with the continuous efforts and effective monitoring and
auditing approach, we believe the optimal revenue can be acheived.

Royalty and Cess (with effect from 1 January 2011) are as follows:

1. Rate of Royalty for logs – Single (flat) rate of RM65.00 per m in round or RM130 per m converted
2. Rate of Royalty and cess for timber from planted forests are:

a. Royalty RM5.00 per m

b. Cess RM5.00 per m

Revenue
During the year under review the total of forest revenue collected was RM693,961,153, showing an
increase of 3.2% as compared to the year 2011. The total revenue collected comprising royalties from
logs and other forest produce RM640,917,474 (92.4%), premiums & tariffs RM31,335,790 (4.5%) and
others RM21,707,889 (3.1%). All the revenue components, namely royalties, premiums & tariffs, and
others indicated increasing trend by 2.55%, 2.3% and 30.8% respectively.

Revenue collected from respective PTJ is shown in the table below. Types of revenue collected from
National Parks, Nature Reserves and Wildlife Centres are entrance fees, accommodation, camping
fees, guiding fees, rental of meeting rooms.

Revenue
During the year under review the total of forest revenue collected was RM693,961,153, showing an
increase of 3.2% as compared to the year 2011. The total revenue collected comprising royalties from
logs and other forest produce RM640,917,474 (92.4%), premiums & tariffs RM31,335,790 (4.5%) and
others RM21,707,889 (3.1%). All the revenue components, namely royalties, premiums & tariffs, and
