ANNUAL REPORT 2009



In 2009, the Department has identified a total of 64 Forest Management Units (FMUs)

within the Permanent Forest Estate (PFE) for the implementation of Sustainable Forest
Management (SFM). Two FMUs with a total area of 162,769 hectares were certified under

the MC&I 2002 of the Malaysian Timber Certification Scheme (MTCS) while another 4 FMUs
are in the process of undergoing certification.


The progress and the updated status of forest areas in Sarawak for 2009 are outlined in the

tables below.
