FOREST DEPARTMENT SARAWAK
ANNUAL REPORT 2009
Management & Planning Division is tasked to:
I. Continuously update, evaluate and manage the forest resource base of Sarawak.
II. Identify forest areas for the Permanent Forest Estate (PFE) for constitution.
III. Assist in identifying the State Land forest not covered under Forest Reserves
Protected Forest and Totally Protected Areas for constitution.
IV. Identify, manage and update the Forest Management Unit (FMU) in the Permanent
Forest Estate (PFE) of Sarawak.
V. Monitor the implementation of Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) in the PFE.
VI. Process applications for Forest Timber Licences.
VII. Determine the allocation of monthly production limit for hill forest timber licenses.
VIII. Update the status of forest areas in Sarawak on a half-yearly basis.
IX. Determine the overall forest areas of Sarawak.
X. Carry out forest resource assessment inventory for logged over forest and virgin
forest.
XI. Update and refine the list of FMU in Sarawak by half yearly review.
XII. Monitor the progress of SFM certification.
XIII. Revise and monitor the implementation of forest management plan.
XIV. Review of EIA report on timber harvesting.
