Innovation is a core pillar of the
Ministry of Education, Innovation,
and Talent Development ’s
(MEITD) efforts to advance
Sarawak ’s socio-economic
growth and sustainable
development. This strategic
focus area emphasizes the need
to foster a thriving ecosystem that
encourages creativity, research,
and technological
advancements. By facilitating
collaboration among research
institutions, industries, and
government entities, MEITD
seeks to drive solutions to critical
challenges, support industrial
diversification, and enhance
Sarawak ’s global
competitiveness.

MEITD ’s innovation strategy is geared toward enabling research excellence, accelerating the
commercialization of research outputs, and fostering an entrepreneurial culture. Special attention is
given to high-growth sectors such as biotechnology, renewable energy, and digital technologies,
ensuring that innovation aligns with
Sarawak ’s developmental priorities as
outlined in the Post-COVID-19
Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030
and global Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs).

As a facilitator, MEITD supports the
establishment of advanced research
infrastructure, promotes
interdisciplinary collaborations, and
advocates for innovation-friendly
policies. This comprehensive approach
ensures that innovation contributes not
only to economic growth but also to
environmental sustainability and
societal progress.
