The development of innovation-driven enterprises is a key catalyst for economic diversification, job
creation, and technological advancement in Sarawak. This strategic objective aims to cultivate a
dynamic and resilient entrepreneurship ecosystem by providing comprehensive support for start-ups,
entrepreneurs, and innovation-based enterprises, ensuring their growth, sustainability, and global
competitiveness.
MEITD plays a facilitating role in strengthening the entrepreneurial landscape by enhancing access
to funding, mentorship, training, and business development support. Through strategic partnerships
with financial institutions, industry players, research institutions, and government agencies, this
initiative enables innovators and entrepreneurs to transform ideas into commercially viable solutions
that address local and global challenges.
A key focus is placed on empowering start-ups and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in
high-growth sectors, such as biotechnology, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, smart
agriculture, and digital economy, ensuring that Sarawak’s entrepreneurial ecosystem remains
aligned with future industry demands and technological advancements

Additionally, this initiative fosters a culture of innovation, problem-solving, and self-sufficiency by
promoting entrepreneurial education, incubation programs, and research commercialization
initiatives. By nurturing talent, strengthening business capabilities, and integrating digital
transformation into entrepreneurial development, MEITD aims to position Sarawak as a leading hub
for innovation-driven enterprises in the region.
Through policy advocacy, capacity-building, and innovation-friendly regulatory frameworks, this
initiative ensures that entrepreneurs have the necessary resources, networks, and institutional
support to scale their businesses, compete in global markets, and contribute to Sarawak’s aspirations
of becoming a high-income and knowledge-based economy under PCDS 2030.

To catalyse the development of a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem that contributes to job creation,
economic diversification, and innovation in Sarawak. This objective aligns with MEITD’s mission to
advance sustainable development and position Sarawak as a regional hub for entrepreneurship and
innovation.
