PROTECTION & ENFORCEMENT
In year 2012, enforcement of all laws and regulations involved a total of 129 investigations and
inspections throughout the State. There was a decrease in the number of arrests and seizures
compared to the previous year, with 171 cases were recorded. In 2012, a total of 7 wildlife cases were
investigated under Wild Life Protection Ordinance, 1998 (Chapter 26) and 3 cases were investigated
under National Parks and Nature Reserves Ordinance, 1998 (Chapter 27). A total of 222 cases were
fined with compound fees amounting to RM729,285.95. 223 cases were closed as there were no
suspect arrested and the evidence was insufficient to prove the commission of the offences. A total of
152 cases were pending decision. The details are summarized in the tables below.
