Bahagian Kuching sangat indah dari segi warisan alam semula
jadi seiring dengan sikap peramah dan berbudi bahasa
penduduknya. Sepanjang lebuh raya dan jalan raya di Kuching Jalan Petra Jaya
diindahkan dengan barisan pokok yang menghijau. Terdapat juga Petra Jaya road
hutan yang dilindungi di bawah peraturan Taman dan Kehijauan
di mana sebahagian besar kawasan kehijauan di Kuching
dilindungi. Taman Negara Bako yang ditubuhkan pada tahun
1957 pula terletak di Bako. Di kawasan Matang pula terdapat
Taman Negara gunung Serapi, di mana hutan hujan tropikanya
dilindungi untuk menyediakan kawasan tadahan air bagi
membekalkan bekalan air kepada penduduk setempat. Malahan,
di Taman Negara gunung gading yang terletak dalam daerah
Lundu terdapat bunga terbesar di dunia, iaitu bunga Rafflesia.
Ke arah paling selatan Lundu pula terletaknya Taman Negara
Tanjung Datu. Selain itu, Taman Negara Talang-Satang turut
ditubuhkan untuk melindungi pendaratan penyu di Pulau
Talang-Talang dan Pulau Satang. Di kawasan tersebut, usaha-
usaha memelihara dan perlindungan penyu dijalankan dengan
penuh iltizam.
Kuching Division is beautiful because of its natural heritage
coupled with the attitude of the local populace. You will notice
that there are many tree-lined roads and highways in Kuching.
There are also protected forests under the Parks and Greens
regulations where large tracts of greens are protected in the
heart of Kuching. Outside Kuching city, the Semenggoh Forest
Reserve provides the home to our lovely Orang Utans. At our
doorsteps at Bako is our Bako National Park, first established
in 1957. Further in Matang is the Gunung Serapi National
Park where the rainforest is protected to provide a catchment
for our water supply. Further west in Lundu is the Gunung
Gading National Park. It is in this Park that the largest flower
in the world, the Rafflesia is found. At our western-most tip lays
the Tanjung Datu National Park. Our first marine park, the Masjid Jamek
Talang-Satang National Park was formed to protect our marine Jamek Mosque
turtles. One has to travel the land, to see it to believe in its
beauty.
