Organised by DBKU and the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board, Karim said the cycling activity would begin at Waterfront Square and through certain routes that would showcase local heritage sites and landmarks around the city.
Various other activities, including a brass band performance and a lucky draw, would also be held at the esplanade along Gambier Street in Kuching to enliven the programme, which would begin at 6.30am.

KUCHING: The Kuching Wetlands National Park (KWNP) has good tourism potential but requires the development of the right promotional strategies.
Pantai Damai assemblyman Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said tourism players and tour operators must take the opportunity to promote the park as it offers interesting natural attractions.
“The KWNP houses various attractions such as dolphins, proboscis monkey and fireflies and what we need now are promotional strategies and assistance from the locals to promote KWNP,” he said during the World Wetlands Day celebration yesterday.

MIRI: Schools in Miri and Bintulu divisions are expected to improve their respective bands in the first 100 days of this year with the introduction of four initiatives under the National Education Blueprint 2013 to 2025.
They include School Improvement Partners (SI Partners) Plus and the launch of the e-Guru video on teaching best practices, which aim to elevate the standard of education to world-class.
Miri District Education officer Rosnani Yunus said under the SI Partners Plus, for example, the department expects all 60 schools in Miri to improve from their current band.

MIRI: Major events and activities in the northern region of Sarawak will be made known to Australians and Europeans with the help of neighbouring country Brunei.
This is because the task of promoting events and activities in Miri, including Limbang, has been given to the sultanate’s carrier Royal Brunei Airways (RBA).

KUCHING: Kuching South City Council (MBKS) will be organising its fifth Ramah Tamah Tahun Baru Cina on Feb 14 from 7pm.
Feb 14 is also the 15th day of Chinese New Year, Chap Goh Meh and Valentine’s Day.
For the first time, it will be held at night and fireworks will be displayed within the compound of the community hall.
Many non-governmental organisations and corporate bodies have confirmed their participations. Participants will set up 81 stalls with various types of cuisines and beverages to serve the crowd for free as part of their corporate social responsibility fulfilment.

KUCHING: Malaysian palm oil has found its way to many parts of the world despite incessant anti-palm oil lobbies in Europe, particularly in France.
Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who said this, attributed this achievement to the series of counter campaigns done through strategic alliances with palm oil processors and food manufacturers to address grave misinformation about palm oil.
He enthused that even international brands are now using palm oil proudly, and even when they were targeted these brands continued to stand firm by their product formulations.
