SIBU: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud conferred state awards on 15 individuals during an investiture ceremony yesterday in conjunction with his 79th birthday celebration.

Taib’s wife Toh Puan Datuk Seri Ragad Kurdi Taib received the Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Bintang Kenyalang (DP), which carries the title Datuk Patinggi.

Chief of the Armed Forces General Tan Sri Zulkifeli Mohd Zin and Public Service Department director-general Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal received the Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS), which carries the title Dato Sri.

The Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DJBS) award, which carries the title Datu, was presented to Limbang Resident Maria Hasman and Labour Department state director August Buma.

Taib also conferred the Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS), which carries the title Dato, on nine recipients, including Temenggong Vincent Lau.

Brunei Corruption Prevention Bureau director/permanent secretary (law and welfare) Datuk Paduka Muhammad Juanda Abdul Rashid was the sole recipient of the Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS) (Honorary), which also carries the title Dato.

Among those present at the ceremony were Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang and State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nasar.
