SIBU: Another nine units of houses under the Housing Programme for Hardcore Poor (PPRT) will be built here this year, says Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health Dr Annuar Rapaee.

According to him, the works would commence soon after the project contractor is appointed.

These nine PPRT units will be built in Kampung Jerrwit Resettlement Scheme and Kampung Sentosa – both in Salim area, as well as Kampung Bahagia Jaya Phase 4 in Teku area.

Adding on Dr Annuar, who is Nangka assemblyman, says the construction period would be around two months.

“Under the PPRT, 15 houses have already been completed, while another 15 are nearing completion.

“Hence, with these nine houses, there would be 39 PPRT units in Sibu,” he told The Borneo Post yesterday when was asked about the total number of PPRT houses in this division.

It is learnt that the 15 PPRT units nearing completion are also located in Kampung Jerrwit Resettlement Scheme, Kampung Sentosa and Kampung Bahagia Jaya Phase 4.

Separately, Dr Annuar said the construction of a retaining wall costing RM200,000 at Rumah Eddy Jemat in Kemuyang here, is now about 80 per cent completed.

He said the funding for this project came from his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) grant.
