MIRI: Students should seize the opportunity to learn additional language because by doing so they are able to have better career opportunities in the future.

Assistant Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Lee Kim Shin opined that apart from the national language and their mother tongue, it is always advantageous to learn an extra language.

“The world is now closer than ever, thanks to technology advancement. Thus, it is essential for them (young ones) to learn an extra language if they hope to pursue a career outside of the country,” said Lee when presenting MRP (minor rural project) grant  to SJK (C) Chung Hua Krokop here yesterday.

The grant is to enable the school to purchase an audio equipment for teaching and activity purposes.

“Make good use of the equipment and use it diligently,” he advised.

Lee who frequently visits the school, also took the opportunity to praise the students who displayed discipline and respect when interacting with peers and elderly people.

“It is important to score good results in exams. It is equally important to have good moral because it shows your personality and character that could bring you far in life,” he said adding the credit should also go to teachers and parents who had educated the students well.

Also present at the handing over ceremony were the school’s board of management, Dr Huang Huat Choon, headmistress Tang Suk Hung and members of the management board.
