Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak Distributes RM61,358 In Aid

KUCHING: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) disbursed RM61,358 in tithe money to 60 individuals and organisations at Baitulmal building here yesterday.
The money was from TBS’s three main aid programmes, namely the strengthening of the knowledge tradition (PMTK), enhancing the Ummah welfare (PMKU) and strengthening of the Islamic institution (PMII).
Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office (Islamic Affairs) Datuk Daud Abdul Rahman, who is also Baitulmal and Waqaf Board chairman, officiated at the function.
Of the amount disbursed, RM36,000 went to 30 individuals as higher learning institute aid and RM2,400 to two individuals as public higher learning institute aid.
A total of RM8,200 were for 16 certificate courses and RM4,800 for two Maahad Tahfiz Al-Quran.
Another RM1,500 went to an Arab/Agama school, RM2,276 (medical treatment), RM3,630 (Masjid/Surau amenities) and RM2,552 (Islamic religious activities).
“TBS will strive its best to ensure those in need would receive help. We will also ensure the compulsory contribution of tithe is fully understood,” said TBS in a press release.
Also present were TBS general manager Datu Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Naili and State Islamic Council chairman Datu Putit Matzen
Before the disbursement of the aid, RHB Islamic Bank Bhd contributed RM100,000 in business tithe to TBS for its 2012 financial year.
Its area manager Edwin Yassin Abdullah handed over the money to Daud.
This was followed by presentation of Waqaf certificate to Fatimah Udin, Norma Ismail and a representative for the late Mohd Deli Abdul Rahman.
There was also a presentation of Waqaf collection totalling RM32,282.62 to the Masjid Baru Matang committee.
At the event, Sibu State Islamic Complex and APPL Engineering Services Sdn Bhd donated to the fire victims of Kampung Datu in Sibu.
Safri Mohammad from the complex and APPL director Aziz Yaman handed over the money to Daud.
