Cheap and Reliable Electricity And Water Supplies

The Sarawak SESCO Berhad is the main supplier of electricity in the State. SESCO Berhad provides ample electricity for industrial, commercial and residential use. The sources of power generation capability available in the State are coal, gas, diesel and hydroelectric. SESCO Berhad offers competitive industrial tariffs for its electricity supply.

Water is readily available in Sarawak and adheres strictly to the international standards of the World Health Organization (WHO) for drinkable water.

Water charges for domestic/commercial/industrial usage from Kuching Water Board (KWB), Sibu Water Board (SWB) and LAKU Management Sdn Bhd, Miri, are very reasonable.

Good Telecommunication System

The telecommunications industry is thriving, with an increasing number of operators offering a variety of up-to-date services.

Telephone	Local call charges: 8 cents for first 2 minutes and 4 cents for each additional minute or part thereof. National call charges: 10 cents per unit. Monthly telephone rental range from RM13.00 to RM40.00.
Television Broadcast	There are 4 television channels in Sarawak: RTM1, RTM2, TV3 & NTV7 Digital satellite channels are available through the cable operator, ASTRO.
Radio Broadcast	The radio networks available are: RTM Radio 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5.
Mobile Networks	There are several mobile networks: ATUR, GSM900, GSM900+ETACS and PCN1800. These networks cover all major towns in Sarawak.
Internet Service Providers	TM Net (Telekom Malaysia Bhd.), Jaring (MIMOS Sdn. Bhd.), Digi Net (DIGI Telecommunications sdn. Bhd.) and Time Net (TT dotcom Sdn. Bhd.) Broadband Internet Service of up to 1.5M is available from TM Net's Streamyx package.
